Learn to create your own games using generative AI with Microsoft's GitHub Copilot. You'll also learn Unity, the industry-leading game development engine.Open to all students in Secondary Schools and JCs. This free programme is fully-funded by the Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore, and organised by Tinkercademy, a Microsoft Global Training partner.
What is the Programme?
The Game Development Bootcamp will expose students to the world of game development using Unity, enhanced by the cutting-edge tools from Microsoft: GitHub Copilot and Visual Studio Code.Students will gain hands-on experience with the Unity editor and C# programming while leveraging the AI-powered assistance of GitHub Copilot to accelerate their learning and coding process. Through various game projects, students will better understand what makes a compelling game while developing practical skills with industry-standard development tools.
Tinkercademy has been one of the first infocomm vendors to offer game development training to schools since the early 2010s, introducing Unity development to over 1,000 students from Infocomm Clubs all over Singapore. Now, with the integration of Microsoft's powerful development ecosystem, students will experience a modern workflow that combines the creativity of game design with the efficiency of AI-assisted coding.
Basics of navigating and using the Unity engine interface to develop games and applications
Use of industry-standard software engineering tools like Microsoft Visual Studio Code and GitHub
Coding skills in C# for Unity
Making use of GitHub Copilot's generative AI technology to create intermediate and advanced features
Game design fundamentals and philosophy and understand what makes for a compelling game
What will you make?
Through the course of the programme, students will gain hands-on experience in creating various genres of games, including a 2D side-scrolling platformer, a story-based text adventure game, a 3D physics-enginer game, and a 3D first-person shooter. See the gallery below for actual student works!

You're eligible to join the programme if you're a student from a MOE secondary school or junior college. In case of overwhelming response, Infocomm Media Club members will receive priority.Requirements
Our hosting school will have desktops available for your use, but if you can bring your own laptop, that would be great — you can continue learning at home! Here's what we recommend:
- Windows: Windows 10 or 11, Intel Core i5-8400 / AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or equivalent, at least 8GB of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 / AMD Radeon RX 580 or equivalent.
- macOS: M-series laptop (M1/M2/M3/M4, Base/Pro/Max).
- iPads, Chromebooks are not supported.Registration
