Learn to create your own games and web apps using generative AI with Microsoft's GitHub Copilot and Visual Studio Code.Open to all students in Secondary Schools and JCs, with priority given to Infocomm Media Clubs members. This free programme is fully-funded by the Infocomm Media Development Authority, and organised by Tinkercademy, a Microsoft Global Training partner.
The Copilot AI Bootcamp will expose students to the world of AI-assisted coding through game and web development with Visual Studio Code and the cutting-edge GitHub Copilot AI coding assistant.For the game dev class, students will gain hands-on experience with the Unity editor and C# programming while leveraging GitHub Copilot to accelerate their learning. Through various game projects, students will develop practical skills with industry-standard tools while understanding what makes compelling games.For the web dev class, students will gain hands-on experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript while leveraging GitHub Copilot to accelerate their learning. Through various web projects, students will develop practical skills with modern frameworks and tools while understanding what makes effective web applications.Tinkercademy has been one of the first infocomm vendors to offer game and web development training to schools since the early 2010s to over 1,000 students from Infocomm Clubs all over Singapore. Now, with the integration of Microsoft's powerful development ecosystem, students will experience a modern workflow that combines the creativity of game and app design with the power of AI-assisted coding.
Learn fundamentals of software development using industry-standard tools including Microsoft Visual Studio Code and GitHub Copilot for AI-assisted coding
Develop proficiency in programming languages essential for modern development: C# for Unity game development and HTML/CSS/JavaScript for web applications
Navigate and utilise professional development environments: Unity engine interface for game creation and modern web development frameworks for application building
Harness GitHub Copilot's generative AI technology to accelerate coding workflows, implement intermediate to advanced features, and enhance problem-solving capabilities across both platforms
Apply design principles and best practices to create compelling user experiences, whether developing engaging games or effective web applications
Through the course of the programme, students will gain hands-on experience in creating various genres of web apps and games.The web course is new in 2025! Former students in the game development course have made a 2D side-scrolling platformer, a story-based text adventure game, a 3D physics-engine game, and a 3D first-person shooter. You're eligible to join the programme if you're a student from a MOE secondary school or junior college. In case of overwhelming response, Infocomm Media Club members will receive priority.When applying, you will be asked to rank your choice of the game dev or web dev tracks.Requirements
The web dev class can be done with your PLDs, using a web browser.For the game dev class, our hosting school will have desktops available for your use for the game dev class, but if you can bring your own laptop, that would be great — you can continue learning at home! Here's what we recommend:
- Windows: Windows 10 or 11, Intel Core i5-8400 / AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or equivalent, at least 8GB of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 / AMD Radeon RX 580 or equivalent.
- macOS: M-series laptop (M1/M2/M3/M4, Base/Pro/Max).
- iPads, Chromebooks are not supported.Registration
